Living Sacrifice

The idea of presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice is a biblical mandate that can be misunderstood by many Western Christians. The true meaning of giving up our physical bodies and withholding nothing is often overlooked and forgotten by those who are not persecuted for their faith. On the other hand, Christians in countries where they face severe persecution often experience physical and emotional abuse, torture, and even death. They adhere to the principles of Romans 12 and see presenting their bodies as a living sacrifice as an act of worship, surrendering control over their fate and finding beauty in relinquishing their physical bodies for the sake of Christ.

The early, persecuted church, particularly Paul, exemplified this principle by using his body as a vessel for glorifying God and rejoicing in the knowledge of being with Jesus, even when faced with threats of death. The underground church, which endures intense persecution, has embraced this principle and is witnessing rapid growth globally. Surrendering oneself now can prepare us for persecution and help us learn to yield ourselves intimately to Christ.

By offering our bodies as living sacrifices, we can learn to give everything to Him and offer a fragrant aroma of a living sacrifice, even in the absence of persecution. Global Catalytic Ministries' vision statement, "We offer our bodies as living sacrifices, loving Him so much that nothing else matters. He is worth it all," emphasizes the importance of presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice to Christ.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” Romans 12:1LIVING
