Lord, I Believe

"Without faith, it is impossible to please God."

The Bible is full of examples of people who demonstrated great faith in God. One example is the centurion is the Centurion in Matthew 8:5-13. This Roman centurion had great faith in Jesus' abilities, even though he was a Gentile and not a part of the Jewish community. He approached Jesus to heal his servant and believed that just a word from Jesus would be enough to heal the servant. Jesus marveled at the centurion's faith and healed the servant from afar.

The Woman with the Issue of Blood in Mark 5:34: This woman had been suffering from a bleeding condition for 12 years and had tried everything to heal herself. She had heard about Jesus and believed that if she could just touch his cloak, she would be healed. She pushed through the crowds, touched Jesus' cloak, and was immediately healed. Jesus praised her for her great faith.

Four men brought their paralyzed friend to Jesus, but they couldn't get to him because of the large crowd. They climbed onto the roof, made a hole, and lowered the paralyzed man down to Jesus. Jesus saw their faith and told the man his sins were forgiven. The people were amazed, and Jesus told them that this was done so they would know that he had the authority to forgive sins.

A widow put two small coins into the temple treasury, and Jesus noticed her. He told his disciples that she had given more than anyone else because she had given all she had to live on. Jesus praised her for her great faith, even though she was poor.

When Jesus walked on water, Peter asked if he could come out to him. Jesus told him to come, and Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. When Peter saw the wind and the waves, he began to sink, but Jesus rescued him and told him to have little faith. Despite his momentary fear, Peter demonstrated great faith by stepping out of the boat in the first place.
